The Public School championship contests are held Sunday at Rutgers. * of the top public schools in four different classifications are battling for state titles.

In the first game in Group 3 North Jersey champ Newark East Side topped South Jersey Champ Camden 60-54. 6-foot Jr. Akbar Hoffman had 18 for the winners. 6-foot-7 Sr. Amir Maddred led Camden with 18. Eastside got major contributions from their bench.

In the second game in Group 2, North Jersey champ Newark Tech responded from a 16-6 first quarter deficit to beat South Jersey champ Medford Tech 55-44.

6-foot-4 Sr. Rakwan Kelly carried the Terriers throughout finishing with 20 points. 6-foot So. Myles Powell scored 15 for Medford Tech.

In the third game in Group 4 south jersey champ and defending state title holder Atlantic City edged North Jersey champ Linden 60-54 in an overtime thriller. 6-foot-3 Jr. Isiah Graves led with 18 including 2 real deep three's in overtime.

6-foot So. Josh Carter tallied 19 for Linden, 10 in 4th.

In the last game in Group 1 (small schools) Central Jersey champ (Point Pleasant Beach) topped North Jersey champ Dayton. 6-foot-4 CW Post bound Sr. Riley Calzonetti paved the way with 18 points and 9 rebounds. 6-foot-3 Jr. Joe Rogers scored 14 for Dayton.
