NJ Varsity Top 25: Groups 3, 4, and 5


The first sixteen spots remain the same and there is a little movement from 17-15, with two teams leaving in Eastern and Absegami. River Dell and Summit enter this week.

1 - Don Bosco (7-1). Last week: (1). The Ironmen beat Hackensack, 42-8, and have scored 277 and allowed 94 this year. They have won the last six state titles and eight of the last ten. This week: 7-1 St. Augustine at home, Friday night.

2 - Elizabeth (8-0-1). Last week: (2). The Minutemen did not play Plainfield, due to Hurricane Sandy and were awarded a tie. The opposition has been outscored, 336-76. This week: 4-4 Edison at home, Friday night.

3 - Paramus Catholic (7-1). Last week: (3). The Paladins beat Northern Highlands, 55-7. Opponents have been outscored, 311-146. This week: 5-3 Paul VI at home, Saturday afternoon.

4 - St. Joe's, Montvale (6-2). Last week: (4). The Green Knights beat Ramapo, 42-0, beating their opponents, 298-146. They have won 13 state championships in the last 17 years. This week: 4-5 Bishop Ahr at home, Saturday afternoon.

5 - St. Peter's Prep (7-1-1). Last week: (5). The Marauders did not play Dover (Del.), due to Hurricane Sandy. They have outscored opponents 327-34. They have been in state finals four times since 2005, winning one. This week: 8-1 Seton Hall Prep at home, Friday night.

6 - Williamstown (8-0). Last week: (6). The Braves beat Kingsway, 20-16 last week, and have outscored the opposition, 284-95. This week: 5-3 Millville at home, Friday night.

7 - Sayreville (9-0). Last week: (7). The Bombers beat Monroe, 34-10, and outscored opponents, 258-43. They have won state titles the last two years. This week: 6-3 Woodbridge at home, Friday night.

8 - Bergen Catholic (5-3). Last week: (8). The Crusaders beat Friendship Academy of Washington DC in overtime, 48-42, a week ago and outscored the opposition this year, 334-219. There have been seven appearances in the state finals in the last eleven years, winning two. This week: 6-2 Notre Dame at home, Saturday afternoon.

9 - Manalapan (8-0). Last week: (9). The Braves beat Howell, 31-3, and have outscored the opposition, 285-92. Next: 3-6 Monroe at home, Friday night.

10 - Red Bank Catholic (8-0). Last week: (10). The Caseys beat Monmouth, 41-6, and have outscored the opposition, 297-53. This week: 5-3 Monsignor Donovan at home, Friday night.

11 - Lacey (9-0). Last week: (11). The Lions beat Brick Memorial, 42-0, scoring 347 for the year and allowing 112. This week: 4-4 Toms River South, Saturday afternoon.

12 - Montclair (8-0). Last week: (12). The Mounties beat Columbia, 44-6, and have allowed 37 points for the year, scoring 303. This week: 4-4 Kennedy at home, Saturday afternoon.

13 - Pascack Valley (9-0). Last week: (13). The Indians beat West Milford, 42-0, and have a cumulative 352-115 for the year. This week: 4-5 Vernon at home, Friday night.

14 - Delbarton (8-1). Last week: (14). The Green Wave beat Pope John, 52-24. Opponents have been outscored, 328-107. This week: 5-3 St. John Vianney at home, Saturday afternoon.

15 - Piscataway (5-2-1). Last week: (15). The Chiefs did not play East Brunswick, due to Hurricane Sandy. They have outscored opponents, 216-89 and won five state titles since 2003, appearing in seven finals. This week: 5-3 Watchung Hills at home, Saturday afternoon.

16 - Timber Creek (6-2). Last week: (16). The Chargers beat Seneca, 19-6, a week ago and have outscored opponents, 212-91. This week: 4-4 Hammonton at home, Friday night.

17 - Delsea (8-1). Last week: (18). The Crusaders beat Cumberland, 34-20. Opponents have been outscored, 326-143. This week: 4-5 Highland Regional at home, Friday night.

18 - Ridge (7-1). Last week: (19). The Red Devils rescheduled their game with Watchung Hills to Thanksgiving Day because of Hurricane Sandy. They have scored 242 for the year and allowing 104. This week: 4-5 Bridgewater-Raritan at home, Friday night.

19 - Southern Regional (6-2). Last week: (20). The Rams beat Toms River East, 41-20. They have allowed 93 points and scored 188. This week: #22 Washington Township at home, Friday night.

20 - Roxbury (8-1). Last week: (21). The Gaels beat Mount Olive, 33-7. They have scored 234 points and allowed 83. This week: 5-4 Mount Olive at home, Friday night.

21 - Atlantic City (6-2). Last week: (22). The Vikings beat Absegami, 33-25, outscoring opponents, 239-140. This week: 5-3 Absegami at home, Friday night.

22 - Washington Township (7-1). Last week: (24). The Minutemen beat Clearview, 51-19. They have outscored the opposition, 202-101. This week: at #19 Southern Regional, Friday night.

23 - Ramapo (7-2). Last week: (17). The Raiders lost to St. Joe's (Montvale), 42-0. They have outscored opponents 351-96. This week: 7-2 Ramsey at home, Friday night.

24 - River Dell (9-0). Last week: Unranked. The Golden Hawks lost their best player for the year in the pre-season and then lost their second best player and quarterback for the year in the second game. They have given two teams, Mahwah and West Essex, their only losses. They beat Fort Lee, 36-35, and have outscored the opposition, 286-103. This week: 6-3 Jefferson at home, Friday night.

25 - Summit (9-0). Last week: Unranked. The Hilltoppers beat Hillside, 50-0 and have outscored the opposition, 311-120. This week: 3-6 West Side at home, Saturday afternoon.
