2012 In Review: The Red Devils were 12-0, beating Woodbury in the South Jersey Group 1 final, after beating Paulsboro and Audubon. They scored 621 points for a 51.75 average, while allowing 46 points for a 3.83 average, including eight shutouts. Their point differential was 47.92 per game, arguably the best in New Jersey history. Wins included Glassboro, Pennsville, and Woodstown.

Departures: QB Nick Elmer - Drexel for wrestling, WR Jabrail Murray - Wesley, LB Antwan Pierce - Monroe JC (NY), OL Sam Harvey - Monroe JC (NY)

Offense: Penns Grove runs a multiple offense and returns six starters and two who played. The quarterback will have senior Anthony Robertson (5-foot-11, 210), moving from running back, where he scored 32 touchdowns. The running backs/slot backs have seniors Richard Gray (5-foot-9, 175) and RaeQuan Norman (6-foot-0, 185) returning and they will be joined by senior Montrea Marshall (5-foot-9, 175), who started on defense. They will line up as either running backs or slot receivers and are interchangeable.

The wide receivers will be junior Billy Newmuis (5-foot-11, 175), who played, and sophomore Kimere Brown (6-foot-0, 165). They will be pushed by sophomore Terik Robinson (6-foot-0, 155).

Three linemen return in senior tackles Caine Bachman (6-foot-7, 235) and Sam Moore (5-foot-10, 280), plus senior guard Isaiah Coppage (6-foot-5, 210). The center will be junior Sterlin Miller (6-foot-2, 275), who saw action. The other guard will be Khaleke Gilliam (5-foot-9, 190). Pushing for time at center or tackle is sophomore Jaron Maldonado (5-foot-11, 175), with sophomore Elijah Whitehead (5-foot-8, 165) pushing at guard.

Defense: The Red Devils run a 50 front and return six starters and another who played. Coppage and Norman return at the ends, where they had 15 and 24 sacks, respectively. Moore returns at nose guard, while the tackles will be Miller and Bachman.

At linebacker, Anthony Robertson returns and Gilliam will start after seeing action.

The secondary returns two starters in Gray and Marshall at the corners. The safeties will be sophomore Craig Ransome (5-foot-10-1/2, 190) and junior William Coleman (5-foot-7, 165).

The team plays multiple formations and players will be moved around in their positions.

Special Teams: Kicker is open and Anthony Robertson will be the punter. The return men will be senior Christian William (5-foot-7, 150), Gray, and Marshall.

Question Marks: Will the team be able to handle the heightened expectations that come along with being the defending sectional champion?

Recruiting: Robertson, Bachman, and Coppage have 1-AA interest. Norman is a 1-AA/D2 prospect, while Gray is a D2 prospect. Others could go D3 with a good year.

It's too early to determine what juniors and sophomores have college potential.

Coach's Comments: "We'll try to win ballgames, as many as we can. Everybody will be gunning for us after last year." - Head Coach Kemp Carr
