2018 DE Mimes sets official visit, and names two leaders

The other day we here at NJVarsity caught up of the top defensive linemen in the state in Kaymar Mimes. So far in his recruitment he's flown pretty far under the radar, but schools like Rutgers, Wake Forest, and others saw talent and made him an scholarship offer. Mimes was nice enough to speak with us about the latest going on in his recruitment below.

IN HIS OWN WORDS….

“It's Wake Forest and Rutgers that have been showing me love the past couple of months,” Mimes told NJVarsity. "It’s cool to say that Rutgers and Wake Forest are my top two right now. Both programs have mostly just been sending mail, and stuff like that. They are the two main ones right now.”

"I’m always hearing some buzz from Rutgers. They are really interested in me. They’ve been saying that they like my work ethic, my size, and they really like what I can become in the future. They like how I fire off the ball and just like the talent that I have.”

“Wake Forest just told me that they are really interested in me. My coaches been saying if they are asking me to come down for an official. I’ll be heading down there on October 28th for the weekend of the Louisville game."

NJVarsity's Reaction....

Recently it seemed that Mimes might hold out on making any decisions right away for his recruitment as big schools like Michigan State, Penn State, and others were continuing to show interest, but reluctant to send an offer just yet. It now appears Mimes is focusing on the offers he has currently. For now he is set on taking some visits to schools and hopes to make a decision some time after his senior year of football is over.
