Westfield native and Don Bosco Prep sophomore defensive back Kevin Brennan (5-foot-10, 194 pounds) received his first offer from Boston College a week ago today. He talked with NJVarsity a little bit about his first ever scholarship offer.

“At about 9 p.m. on March 31st I got a call from my head coach, Coach [Greg] Toal” said Brennan. “He called me to tell that Boston College offered me a scholarship. I thanked him and told him how excited and thankful I was. After that, I called Coach Anthony Campanile, the DB coach at BC, to make it official. We talked for a little while and then he invited me to the spring game, which I will be attending on April 16th.”

The New Jersey prospect went on to explain a little bit about what he knows about Boston College.

"There are definitely a lot of positives in the school; starting with academics, which are very important to me. They play some of the best teams in the country and that is the level of playing that I want to experience in college ball. Another positive point is location. Boston is so close to home. The coaches there are a lot like the ones at Bosco, which means a lot to me because I love and respect all of my high school coaches. I'm looking forward to meeting more coaches and learning more about the school during my visit and in the future."

Although Brennan only holds one offer, he is receiving attention from a good amount of other schools. Some of those expressing interest are institutions such as North Carolina, Michigan, Clemson, and in state school, Rutgers.

As far as which camps Brennan will be attending this summer he had this to say.

"I will be camping at Rutgers and trying to visit all of those schools showing interest along with Notre Dame over the summer. I currently have no dates finalized yet though."

Stay tuned for more on Brennan and other class of 2018 recruits, as this is just the very beginning of a big recruitment.
