Kyle Dobbins receives lots of attention during Rutgers junior day

St. Augustine Prep junior all-purpose back Kyle Dobbins has no shortage of recruiting interest and yesterday he took some time to visit one of the seven schools who have already offered him. Dobbins was among the junior day visitors, but was singled out by the RU coaching staff as one of the primary recruiting targets.

“It went great,” Dobbins said of the visit. “In the morning, I met with [Head] Coach [Chris] Ash and we had like a 30-minute talk about building relationships and having a great junior day and how he would have them show us around the campus. He talked about commitment, recruitment and all that.”

Accompanied by his mother and step-father, Dobbins was then treated to an extensive tour of the campus.

“We went to the school part of Rutgers,” Dobbins said. “That is the first time I have ever been out there. There are four locations; an urban area, a city area, a suburb type area. I like that.”

Dobbins also mentioned how the staff intends to use him, should he wind up joining the Rutgers program.

“They see me catching out of the backfield, running the ball, running between the tackles and outside too.”

The day was also filled with some leisure time.

“Overall, it was a real good visit," Dobbins said. "My favorite part of the visit was when one of the O-linemen, Micah Clark, took me to the game room and we played Madden against each other. He won, 28-21, though."

Dobbins also has a host of offers from ACC programs, who are pursuing him rather intently.

“I am hearing from North Carolina and NC State. Boston College wants me up there too,” Dobbins said. “I am going to visit North Carolina and NC State next.”

West Virginia, UConn and Syracuse have all been upping their contact level as of late, while Army was Dobbins’ latest offer.

The South Jersey product went on to reveal when he plans on narrowing down his list and what he is looking for in a school.

“I will probably set a top five in April. I want to have great players and great people around me. I also want great academics, great relationships and a place that feels like my home.”
