Isaiah Johnston is a class of 2019 DB out of Monroe Township High School. Originally he was set to play running back in his sophomore year, but that quickly changed when he was asked to go out and play DB.

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound athlete made the switch to cornerback and played well enough to quickly earn the starting job for the Monroe Falcons.

“This past season was my first year playing cornerback,” Johnston told NJVarsity. “I’ve always wanted to play DB, but never got the chance. I like to compete and shadowing the best athlete in the field is the best way to show it."

Along with playing defensive back and running back, Johnston also competed for time at WR, KR, and even PR. He did it all for the Monroe Falcons. End of the season he was even named as an All-Group 5 DB 1st team per NJ.com.

“I just feel blessed. I came a long way from playing on the line in 8th grade to now covering some of the best athletes in the state," said Johnston.

Since switching over to DB in the past season, a lot more people have begun to take notice of a few people around the state. One of those people was Coach Phil Doman of the Air Sports Group 7on7 program.

"Isaiah Johnston is very talented. He looks very good in person. He is also smart, very strong and fast. With his size and strength he will be a force on the circuit,” said Coach Doman of his newest addition.

Johnston recently make the decision official to join the ASG program in hopes to further perfect his game and showcase his talent vs others.

"I just wanted to surround myself with the best competition possible to better myself. The teams they play from around the nation offer even more. This is the first off season I've ever trained this hard, and my short term goal right now is to be able to bring the same attitude to my high school team along with the experience and knowledge I've gained,” said the 2019 DB prospect.

As far as recruiting is going so far a lot of schools are still sleeping on the talented 2019 prospect. However after an offseason of camps and traveling with the ASG 7on7 team I would expect him to see a nice increase in his exposure sooner rather than later.
