NJ Varsity Top 25: Groups 1 and 2

Teams are switching around, as we head into state final weekend. The Top 5 is the same, with Penns Grove and Pompton Lakes changing places. It's from that point on, where things get changed around. The only team leaving the Top 25 is Rumson-Fair Haven, with newcomers New Milford and Roselle Park being tied at 25.
1 - Madison (11-0). Last week: (1). The Dodgers beat Bernards, 46-21, and have outscored opponents 551-130. They have won two consecutive sectional titles and have won 36 straight. Wins also include #16 Lenape Valley, 6-4 Hanover Park, and 6-4 Jefferson. This week: #9 Mountain Lakes at Kean University, Saturday, 10AM.

2 - St. Joe's, Hammonton (9-1). Last week: (2). The Wildcats beat Hudson Catholic, 72-0, and have outscored opponents, 318-107, playing a tough, big school schedule. They have posted three shutouts and won three consecutive state titles. Hammonton is their only loss, while wins include 8-3 Atlantic City, 8-2 St. Augustine, 6-4 Millville, 6-4 Absegami, and 7-4 Holy Spirit. This week: #17 St. Mary's at College of New Jersey, Saturday 4PM.
3 - West Deptford (11-0). Last week: (3). The Eagles beat Woodstown, 28-7, and have outscored opponents 450-144. They have won five sectional titles since 2002 and appeared in eight finals in that time. Wins include #10 Woodbury, 7-4 Paulsboro, and 6-4 Haddonfield. This week: #19 Cedar Creek at Rowan University, 1PM.
4 - Penns Grove (11-0). Last week: (5). The Red Devils beat Paulsboro, 53-6, winning 66-0, and have outscored the opposition, 591-32, including eight shutouts. Wins include #13 Glassboro and 7-4 Woodstown. This week: #10 Woodbury at Rowan University, Saturday 10AM.
5 - Pompton Lakes (11-0). Last week: (4). The Cardinals beat Saddle Brook, 39-33, and have outscored opponents, 465-77. They won a sectional last year and have won three of the four finals they have appeared in since 1997. Wins include #24 Hasbrouck Heights, 9-2 New Milford, and 5-5 Verona. This week: #7 Cedar Grove at the Meadowlands, Saturday 1PM.
6 - Immaculata (10-1). Last week: (6). The Spartans beat Montclair Kimberley, 49-7, and have outscored opponents, 335-126, playing a large school schedule. Their lone loss was to Ridge and wins include 6-5 Franklin, 5-5-1 Hunterdon Central, and 6-4 Watchung Hills. This week: 7-4 Holy Spirit at College of New Jersey, Saturday, 7PM.
7 - Cedar Grove (10-1). Last week: (8). The Panthers beat Hasbrouck Heights, 27-24, and have outscored opponents, 368-191. They have won five sectionals since 2000, appearing in six. Their lone loss is to #12 Caldwell and wins include #18 Weequahic, 7-4 Shabazz, and 5-5 Verona. This week: #5 Pompton Lakes at the Meadowlands, Saturday 1PM.
8 - Carteret (11-0). Last week: (10). The Ramblers beat Shabazz, 20-14, and have outscored opponents, 391-132, winning a sectional in 2007. Wins include 9-2 Colonia, Group 4 Woodbridge, and 6-4 Johnson. This week: #18 Weequahic at the Meadowlands, Saturday, 10AM.
9 - Mountain Lakes (11-0). Last week: (12). The Herd beat Caldwell, 26-20, and they have outscored opponents, 394-150. They have won three sectionals since 2002, now appearing in six finals. Wins include 8-2 Butler, 8-3 Kinnelon, and 8-3 North Warren. This week: #1 Madison at Kean University, Saturday, 10AM.
10 - Woodbury (10-1). Last week: (14). The Thundering Herd beat Glassboro, 14-13, outscoring opponents 384-110. They have now been in four finals appearances since 1998, winning two, including 2009. Their lone loss is to #3 West Deptford and wins include 7-4 Paulsboro and 6-4 Haddonfield. This week: #4 Penns Grove at Rowan University, Saturday, 10AM.
11 - Florence (10-1). Last week: (19). The Flashes beat Point Pleasant Beach, 17-14, outscoring opponents, 336-115. They were in the finals last year and have won four sectionals from 2003-2006. Their loss is to #23 Delran and wins include 6-4 New Egypt and 6-4 Maple Shade. This week: Shore Regional at College of New Jersey, Saturday, 10AM.
12 - Caldwell (9-2). Last week: (7). The Chiefs lost to Mountain Lakes, 26-20. They have outscored opponents 373-179 and have won three sectionals since 1997. They appeared in four finals plus four more semi-finals. Their other loss is to West Essex and wins include #7 Cedar Grove, 7-3 Lincoln, and 5-5 Verona. This week: Season is complete.
13 - Glassboro (9-2). Last week: (9). The Bulldogs lost to Woodbury, 14-13, outscoring the opposition, 424-134. They won the last two sectional titles and four of the last six, plus three more finals appearances since 2000. Their lone loss was to #4 Penns Grove and wins include 7-4 Woodstown and 7-3 Gloucester City. This week: Season is complete.
14 - Point Pleasant Beach (10-1). Last week: (11). The Gulls lost to Florence, 17-14, and have outscored opponents 437-121. Wins include #15 Shore Regional, 8-3 Dunellen, and 6-4-1 Asbury Park. This week: Season is complete.
15 - Shore Regional (9-2). Last week: (15). The Blue Devils beat Asbury Park, 31-7, and have outscored opponents, 368-115. They won a sectional title in 2010. Their losses are to #14 Point Pleasant Beach and #25 Rumson-Fair Haven. Wins include 6-4-1 Asbury Park a second time and 6-4 Keyport. This week: #11 Florence at College of New Jersey, Saturday, 10AM.
16 - Lenape Valley (8-2). Last week: (16). The Patriots completed their season. They outscored opponents, 301-144. Losses were close games to #1 Madison and #22 Bernards. Wins included 6-4 Hanover Park and 6-4 Jefferson. This week: Season is complete.
17 - St. Mary's (11-0). Last week: (17). The Gaels beat St. Anthony, 42-7, and have scored 472 points this year, allowing 129. They won a sectional in 2006. Wins included 7-3 Weehawken and 6-4 Cresskill. This week: #2 St. Joe's (Hammonton) at College of New Jersey, Saturday, 4PM.
18 - Weequahic (9-2). Last week: (22). The Indians beat Delran, 25-7, and are four points away from being undefeated. They scored 343 points for the year and allowed 118. Losses were to #7 Cedar Grove and Group 4 West Milford. Wins include 7-4 Shabazz, 7-3 Rumson-Fair Haven, and 5-5 Verona. This week: #8 Carteret at the Meadowlands, Saturday, 10AM.
19 - Cedar Creek (10-1). Last week: (20). The Pirates beat Willingboro, 41-3, and outscored the opposition, 443-109. St. Augustine is their lone loss and wins include 6-5 Bridgeton and 6-4 Middle Township. This week: #3 West Deptford at Rowan University, Saturday, 1PM.
20 - Hoboken (9-2). Last week: (24). The Red Wings beat Dunellen, 35-0, and are five points away from being undefeated. They scored 373 points and allowed 98. Losses were to 5-5 Verona and Group 5 Union City, while wins include 8-3 St. Anthony, 7-3 Lincoln, and 6-4 Jefferson. This week: 9-2 Roselle Park at the Meadowlands, Friday. 5PM.

22 - Bernards (9-2). Last week: (13). The Mountaineers lost to Madison, 46-21, and have outscored opponents, 400-186. Their other loss was to 7-3 Delaware Valley, with wins coming against #16 Lenape Valley, #25 (tie) Roselle Park, and 8-3 New Providence. This week: Season is complete.
23 - Delran (9-2). Last week: (18). The Bears lost to Weequahic, 25-7, and have outscored opponents, 279-155. Wins include #11 Florence, 6-5 Willingboro, and 5-5 Holy Cross. This week: Season is complete.
24 - Hasbrouck Heights (8-3). Last week: (21). The Aviators lost to #7 Cedar Grove, 27-24, and opponents have been outscored 325-182. They have won two sectional titles since 1994 and appeared in four finals. Their other losses were to #5 Pompton Lakes and 9-2 Palisades Park. Wins include #21 Saddle Brook and 8-2 Butler.
