Close to seventy kickers, punters and snappers showcased their skills at the Special Teams Solutions College Exposure Camp held Saturday, December 13th at Superdome Sports in Waldwick, NJ. The 11th Annual event offered specialists an opportunity to compete with many of the Northeast's best while getting expert instruction from former and current college and professional players.

"It was great event with many talented performers from across the northeast," said Lee McDonald, former Rutgers kicker who runs Special Teams Solutions. "The skill level of prospective college kickers, punters and snappers keeps getting better, and this year was no different."
Nine kickers finished a perfect 6 of 6 with a long of 50 yards during the first round of the field goal competition, including class of 2015 prospects Nick Banta (Middletown North, NJ), Nick DeAngelis (Ramsey, NJ), Joe DeFilippo (Bergen Catholic, NJ), Kyle Facibene (St. Anthony's, NY) and Alex Gallaher (Camp Hill, PA). 2016 prospects Michael Juliano (Mainland, NJ), Todd Spirt (Eastern, NJ) and Josh Wood (Monroe, NJ) and 2017 K Paul Inzerillo (SI, NY) also did not miss a kick during the opening round.
"I had a great time, learned a lot and really enjoyed the opportunity to compete with so many good kickers," said Joe DeFilippo, a class of 2015 kicker from Bergen Catholic High School (NJ).
During the head to head competition, all nine kickers duked it out until eventually Michael Juliano and Joe DeFilippo squared off at 50 yards. Michael Juliano, a 2014 New Jersey 2nd Team All-Group IV selection, took home top field goal honors with his competition winner from 51 yards (video).
"Several kickers showed live legs on field goals," said McDonald. "DeFilippo is an underrated 2015 prospect who should get some DI looks following camp while Juliano showed he will be among the best in New Jersey and perhaps the northeast, for the class of 2016."
On kickoffs, Kyle Facibene, a 2015 kicker from St. Anthony's High School (NY), blasted a camp best 69 yard, 3.72 second hang time average on three kicks while David Neustadt of East Meadow (NY), a 2015 prospect, posted a 63 yard, 3.71 seconds hang time average.
Among punters, eight performers moved on from the opening round of competition with at least a 40 yard punting average on six punts including 2015 prospects Jurgen Bocaj (Sterling, NJ), Alex Gallaher (Camp Hill, PA), Ed Mish (Old Bridge, NJ), and William Wallace (JUCO, DE). 2016 prospects included Zac Bernard (Hammonton, NJ), Mason Donaldson (Salisbury, PA), Michael Razak (LaSalle, PA) and Bill Wagner (Lady of Lourdes, NY).
"It was a great camp, I learned a lot and there are a ton of things I can take away from the event," said Ed Mish, a 2014 New Jersey 2nd Team All-Group V selection out of Old Bridge High School.
The head to head battle came down to Alex Gallaher and Ed Mish, who traded jabs with 40 plus yard, 4.0 plus hang time punts. Mish ultimately took home top punt honors with a 44 yard, 4.4 second hang time boot (video).
"I really like the potential of the underclassmen punting talent; there is a high ceiling for several of the prospects," said McDonald. "And although they project more as kickers, 2015 prospects Gallaher and Mish proved they can bring it when asked to pin opponents deep."
The snapping competition did not take a back seat as several prospects proved worthy of a division one look with solid long snap accuracy and speed from 15 yards. Class of 2015 prospect Nick Filancia (John Jay East, NY) posted a .85 average, 2015 snapper Anthony Popolo (Ramsey, NJ) a .76 average and 2015 performer Chris Sayan (Bergen Catholic, NJ) a .83 average. Each moved on to the head to head snap competition with 2016 snapper Sean Mills (St. Joes Metuchen, NJ), who posted a .81 per snap average.
"This was my second Exposure Camp, which is a great tool to see where you stack up among the best in the northeast," said Chris Sayan, a 2015 snapping prospect from Bergen Catholic High School (NJ), who came through in the clutch, winning the head to head snapping competition (video of winning snap).
"Snapping is one of the most underrated skills in football and these prospects proved their value with good zip and location," said McDonald. "Fiancia, Popolo, Sayan, Mills and a few others all showed they can do it at the college level if given the opportunity to compete."
