When it comes to St. Joe’s Regional out in Montvale, NJ there is almost never a shortage of talent. Last year the Green Knights sent six players to D1 schools like NC State, Bucknell, Howard, and Penn State. Well now it appears they have another young budding star in DB Evan Stewart.
Stewart is a 6-foot-1, 190-pound defensive back who also has the ability to play linebacker at the next level. Stewart has a list of interests, and offers early in the recruiting process. He talks with us here at NJVarsity about those interests and some new offers.
“Right now I’m just working on trying to narrow down my schools. Currently I’m hearing from Boston College, Virginia, Northwestern, North Carolina, and NC State,” said Stewart.
Stewart also has some visits in mind, but only has one school has a set date so far and that is the University of Virginia.
“I’m going to try and visit Virginia on March 4th,” the 3-star DB told NJVarsity. "I’ve been talking to coaches Poppinga and Howell recently. They have been telling me that they love my film and style of play. They’ve also been telling me a lot of positives about the program and how it’s on the rise.”
Another school who recently jumped into the mix is Northwestern. The Wildcats offered this 2018 target just a few weeks ago in the middle of January and could be expecting a visit from Stewart soon.
“He’s been telling me a lot about the school and how the coaches see me as a linebacker at the next level. I’m planning on making a visit when they start there spring practices,” Stewart stated.
The class of 2018 athlete is also working on setting up a couple more unofficial visits for this spring, but has not figured out which schools he wants to see yet. However, he does have a possible decision date as he would like to commit on June 11th, his birthday.
