2015 In Review: The Green Wave was 8-3, losing to St. John Vianney in the Parochial Group 3 semi-finals after beating Bishop Eustace. They scored 345 points for a 31.-- average, while allowing 158 for a 14.-- average. Wins included Poly Prep (NY), Roxbury, and West Morris, while other losses included St. Anthony’s (NY) and Morris Knolls.

Departures: TE/OLB Sam Johnson - Princeton, QB Matt Zebrowski - Georgetown, WR/DB Matt Ungar - Georgetown, RB Andrew Sanders - Tufts, WR/DB Kevin Hartley - Middlebury, G/NG Malcolm Mead - Union College (NY)

Offense: Delbarton runs a multiple I and returns six starters. Quarterback is a three-way race among senior Davis Bell (5-foot-11, 185), senior Andrew Papantonis (6-foot-1, 190) - a returning starter at wide receiver who missed last season, and junior Miles Lenew (6-foot-2, 190). Tailback returns senior Luca Tria (5-foot-11, 185) and he getting reps will be juniors Anthony Siragusa (6-foot-0, 185), and Cole Kreshpane (5-foot-10, 180). Fullback has senior Chris Colon (5-foot-11, 200) and junior Kevin Sawtell (5-foot-10, 175) competing, with Colon seeing time last year.

Papantonis is the lone returning starter at wide receiver. He will be joined by seniors Greg Olson (6-foot-3, 190), Murphy Fitzpatrick (5-foot-9, 170), Anthony Kearns (6-foot-3, 190), Reed Gregory (6-foot-1, 180), Matt Douglas (6-foot-3, 180), and Matt McKeon (5-foot-11, 165). Tight end has junior Trey Zgombic (6-foot-3, 220), senior Peter Jepson (6-foot-1, 200), and senior Kohl Shaffer (6-foot-2, 205) in the running.

The line returns four starters, plus another defensive starter who played here last year. The left side returns senior Michael Huston (6-foot-2, 220) at tackle and junior Will Andersen (6-foot-2, 275) at guard. Seniors Eric Lenz (6-foot-1, 230) is back at center and Jonah Lyons (6-foot-1, 230) returns at right tackle. Right guard has senior Jake Maciejewski (6-foot-0, 260) at right guard, where he saw action and started on defense.

Defense: The Green Wave play a 4-3 and return six starters and another who started some games. Huston returns at end, with Maciejewski back at tackle. The other end will be Zgombic, while Andersen started a few games at tackle. In the rotation at end will be sophomore Will Smart (6-foot-3, 245) and Lenz. Rotating at tackle will be senior Liam Higgins (5-foot-10, 230) and junior Drake Mead (6-foot-0, 250).

Linebacker brings back Kreshpane in the middle and Siragusa on the outside. Colon is in the lead at the other outside spot, where he played, and is being pushed by Shaffer, who also saw time. Another in the mix is sophomore George Johnson (6-foot-1, 220).

The secondary has experience at the safeties, with Papantonis back at free safety and Tria back at strong safety. The corners have four competing: senior Sean McGrath (5-foot-9, 160), Kearns, McKeon, and Sawtell. Pushing for some time at safety are Bell and Leniw.

Special Teams: Senior Chris Whelan will be the kicker and Bell is the punter. The return men will be Papantonis and Sawtell.

Concerns: Staying healthy. They need to compete and get after it.

Recruits: Papantonis committed to play baseball at Virginia. Tria may go Ivy for football or lacrosse. Maciejewski, Olson, Huston, and Lyons are D3 types, possible the NESCAC. In the junior class, Andersen, Siragusa, Kreshpane, and Zgombic are 1-AA prospects, with Zgombic possibly going Ivy. It is too early to tell for the sophomores.
