Vineland LB Nihym Anderson lands first two offers

Vineland class of 2018 linebacker Nihym Anderson is seeing his recruitment as he has now claimed a pair of FBS offers from Power Five schools. Pitt was the first to offer this past Saturday and Rutgers came through with one on the same day.

“They told me to call them. So I called and talked to Coach [Jay] Niemann,” Anderson said of Rutgers. “He said they liked my tape and since I came up here before, we are basically going to go ahead and offer you.”

Anderson was recently at the Rutgers junior day, which took place on the weekend before signing day.

“It was a great experience. Everybody there showed love,” Anderson said. “Another thing that stood to me was when [Head] Coach [Chris] Ash said there is a whole bunch of good guys who play football but once they start getting offers, they get too big headed. That kind of just stuck with me. I didn’t get an offer until this Saturday, but I am trying to think like that. I don’t want to get a big head.”

The 6-foot-2, 227-pound Anderson also mentioned how the Pitt offer came about.

“I was just talking to Pitt a little bit. My coach was talking to them as well and then the next day, something happened.”

Anderson was joined in receiving both Rutgers and Pitt offers by teammate Isaih Pacheco as the two plan on making some future visits together.

“We might visit Boston College and Maryland together,” Anderson said. "I have talked to a couple of coaches from those schools."

Off the field, Anderson is also managing to excel in the classroom.

"I just made the honor roll," Anderson said.
