Class of 2019 lineman Wisdom Quarshie is fresh off a state title run for St. Joe’s (Hammonton) as he helped his squad to a championship on both sides of the football.

Recruiting is just starting to get going for the junior, who could be in store for a busy offseason.

“There are a couple of schools talking to me a little bit,” Quarshie said. “I am just remaining humble and not letting it be a distraction.”

The 6-foot-3, 305-pound Quarshie had a strong season on both sides of the football for the undefeated Wildcats.

“A scholarship is a scholarship. If a school wants me to play offense, then I will play offense,” said Quarshie. “If it is defense, then I will bust my butt to play defense."

Quarshie is a big body, who looks to be one of the more promising offensive guard prospects in New Jersey’s class of 2019.

“I have been able to overpower guys this year and just keep my legs moving. I can’t let my big go to waste. So I keep overpowering guys,” Quarshie said. “I knew I had to work hard coming into this year. The harder I worked, the more I knew things would pay off.”

On the defensive side of the football, Quarshie has benefited from the coaching provided by former Rutgers and South Carolina linebacker Kaiwan Lewis, who was in his first season as St. Joe’s defensive coordinator.

“It is great what he did for us this year,” Quarshie said of Lewis. “He played on the biggest stage and he also played in big games in high school. So he knew what to do to get our minds right. It is a blessing to have him here on the staff.”

Colleges are now beginning to contact Quarshie while his home state university was the first to take notice.

“I am interested in Big Ten schools. Rutgers has been in touch with me and every time I go up there for games, they make me feel like family.”
